She Was Walking With Her Husband. Then A Text Message Changed Their Lives… Forever.

Husband and wife, David and Leslee Henson were walking on the sidewalk in St. George, Utah on March 4, 2013. Suddenly a car came around the corner moving very fast, the driver was running late – and she was in the middle of sending a text. Because she was distracted and speeding she hit another vehicle that then slammed into David and Leslee.

David, 57, died on his way to the hospital. Leslee was taken to Utah Valley Medical Center in a life flight helicopter. Leslee received 5,000 stitches staples in her skull; she had a fracture in her neck and two fractures in her back. Doctors expect her to make a full recovery. Leslee works tirelessly on getting stricter laws in place for texting while driving and on distracted awareness campaigns.
